Every ferry to Bornholm calls at Rønne on the west coast, and all three routes are operated by Bornholmslinjen. This page brings their departures together and explains what you need to watch for when reading the timetable. What separates the three routes in the timetable
The three services behave very differently in the timetable, and for planning that matters more than the crossing time alone.

What follows in practice: on the Ystad route the timetable is a choice, on the other two it is a constraint. If you travel from Sassnitz or Køge, you build the travel day around the ferry rather than the other way round.
Køge: why the departure falls after midnight
The night ferry from Køge leaves at 00:30, half an hour after midnight. In the timetable it therefore carries the date of the arrival day, not of the evening on which you have to be at the port.
If you book for a Saturday, you need to be in Køge on Friday evening. This shift is the most common source of booking errors on the route. It affects the journey there as well: the last train or coach from Copenhagen may leave before departure, particularly on Sundays and public holidays. The terminal at Køge opens accordingly only around 21:30 and is staffed from 22:00.
Check-in: when you have to be at the port
The deadlines differ by port and are shorter than you may expect from larger ferries. They are counted from the scheduled departure time and apply even when the ship is running late.

Charging during the crossing is only possible on the Ystad route and has to be reserved when booking, which is why that row appears there alone. There is no luggage service at Sassnitz or Rønne; everyone carries their own bags on board.
Seasons: when the timetable thins out
Ystad and Køge run all year. What drives seasonal planning is Sassnitz: the direct service from Germany is densely served in the summer half of the year and thins out noticeably afterwards, leaving only occasional sailings in deep winter. Fixed sailing days cannot be stated reliably in an article; the table above shows what actually runs on your date.
If you are travelling outside the summer months and counting on the direct ferry, check whether a sailing exists on the days you want before you book accommodation and your return. Out of season, the route via Ystad is almost always the more dependable one.
When to book
As soon as your travel dates are fixed, and earlier with a vehicle than without. During the Swedish and Danish summer holidays, vehicle spaces on popular departures go early; on the Køge and Sassnitz routes, with their limited number of departures, the effect is strongest. Because holiday homes on Bornholm usually change over on Saturdays, weekend spaces disappear first.
