Næs Beach

Næs Beach lies on the edge of Allinge on Bornholm's north coast, at Balran 1. It isn't a broad sweep of sand like the beaches in the south of the island, but a small bathing spot tucked between the typical granite rocks of the north coast — right below the Allinge Badehotel and barely a hundred metres from Nordbornholms Røgeri. From the car park on Løsbæksgade, a path with a ramp leads down to the cove.

What to expect

At its heart is a small sandy beach wedged between the rocks. Above it sits a large concrete bathing jetty resting on the granite blocks, used as a platform for sunbathing and jumping in. A bathing ladder leads from there into slightly deeper water — handy if you'd rather not wade over the rocks to reach the sea.

The seabed is a mix of sand, stones and rocks, with shallow water close to shore. That makes the spot well suited to young children, even though the sand here is a bit coarser and stonier than at other Bornholm beaches. Water shoes are worth packing. Water quality is rated good to excellent in the municipal bathing water profile.

Swimming and snorkelling

The Baltic only warms up properly along the north coast in high summer: regional figures for Bornholm are typically around 9 to 15°C in June and reach roughly 18 to 19°C by August — though these are broader regional benchmarks, not measurements taken directly on site. Snorkellers will find varied terrain among the rocks; the site doesn't officially give specific visibility depths or species information.

The beach is small. On warm summer days the jetty fills up quickly, so weekdays or early morning are the quietest times. An hour or two is enough for a swim; combined with a stop in Allinge, it easily fills half a day.

Getting there and practicalities

Parking is on Løsbæksgade, just a few metres from the beach via a path and ramp. No parking fee is officially listed — check the signage on site. A public toilet is available; changing rooms, showers or a staffed lifeguard station aren't mentioned on the official sites, so don't rely on finding one.
